The Green Arm Bandits were well represented at this Friday Night Kreb Cycle Race, consisting of members Craig, Karl, Owen, Rob, Percy, George, and Chris. The team agreed to race aggressively feeling that our best chance for a positive outcome was to position one or more of us in a successful break. Multiple attacks were covered or chased down by the field. This softened the group and allowed Owen to enter a selection of ~6 in the waning stages. Percy realized the opportunity and was successful in a valiant solo bridge effort. The break stayed away and resulted in placings for Owen and Percy, and a solid showing for the GAB's.

In this finish line photo Chris is passing riders from the other CAT 4 field.
He has a 40 yard lead on the second place CAT 4/5 racer at the rear of the picture.
90 degrees, sunny and 40 miles of intense country road climbing. A nice barbecue, a lake for swimming and a little beer topped off a sweet day. It was nice to see he had his family there as well to savor the moment and look for payback from their great support.
Kris Saether, Mike and Owen helped Chris for the first 6 miles and then a well timed attack by Chris Schwenker splintered the field for the rest of the race.
There is no mystery or magic elixir to Chris winning this tough race. He trained very hard, scouted out the course weeks prior and peaked for this race.
Thanks to the promoters who put on a well organized, safe and enjoyable race!
Friday evening the five Bandits Owen, Karl, Rob, George and Percy started in the A race at the Friday Night Kreb Race Series.
The race was going hard and intense, no break attempt was holding long at any time. Numerous chases and a lot of work around front not let any thing go with out one of the GABs. At the last lap a break almost made it, but the team did not let this happen as they managed to chase on last second and even position Karl for the finish sprint to victory.
Karl, Mike and Chris joined the large field of LI "A" racers to test our fitness and strength. Despite numerous strong efforts by the boys the race failed to split and no selection was made. Karl contested the sprint finish and flew in just out of the $.
Sunny, 87 degrees at 10:00 A.M, no wind and rolling New England roads - Brilliant!
Mike, Rob, Chris and Owen were the GAB's in this field.
Congratulations to Chris for his first race in the points with a cash pay out.
He battled hard to stay up front for all four of the 10 mile laps and took seventh place. He was on the second wheel of a rider that faded bad in the home stretch and blocked him in or he would have been vying for the win.
