3 team members Chris Schwenker, Karl Nelson and Mike Innusa competed in the Kreb Friday Night TTT 7/22...outside temp high 90's with road temp >100F. Most of the local competition was there with some heavy guns participating. The team started strongly trading fast pulls and rotating smoothly. Chris kept Karl and Mike fresh for 4 laps giving it hell, then dropped off a bit...but it was enough to launch us for the win!

Stage 1: TT

The first stage was a rolling 4.6 single lane road with a sharp, 1k little ring climb to the finish. I knew from last year the top times would be under 15 minutes and 15:30 should be good for top 10. I rolled out and tried to pace myself well over the rollers before giving it my all on the final climb. A time of 15:39, good for 16th place, one place out of GC points. Carol Lynn finished fouth in the cat 4 women and Tori got 12th.

Stage 2: Crit (Circuit Race)

I was in Colorado this year for the race, but fellow GAB Karl Nelson participated in my absence. The three stage race consists of an uphill TT and Crit/Circuit race Saturday, followed Sunday by a road race.
Karl finished 17th in the TT, just outside the points. He did manage to beat my time from last year by about a minute. Great job! Later that afternoon he showed off his sprinting prowess by winning the Criterium. He was neatly placed near the top of the GC standings at the end of the day.

Last Memorial Day Karl traveled to Somerville to take part in one of the longest running races in the country: http://www.tourofsomerville.org/news.html . He traveled alone and found some success in placing 3rd. Upon his return everyone congratulated him. I remember him showing a bit of frustration, "If I only had a teamate, maybe...." he said. With this in mind we set out to support him as best we could this year.

Saturday May 7th 3 GAB's George, Karl and Percy traveled to Lancaster, PA for the Turkey Hill Classics, starting in the CAT 3/4 field. A notch too my for myself not yet a CAT 3 rider -- getting the best out of it as a training race/ride, unlucky day for Karl with a flat with one lap to go just George finished the race. However, was great day and excellent race, fun either way!

The 6 GAB's Owen, Kris, Chris, Percy, Mike and George traveled to Cambridge in Southern Washington County, New York to dust up the dirt around the river Battenkill.

Moving in at the Beattie Inn near Salem, NY Saturday afternoon. Team dinner with a few additional guest riders and again C. Grady and buddy... a lot of small talk.

Big thanks to Mrs. Schwenker for all the outstanding dinner preparations!

No podium, but still two places in top twenty: 12th for Mike -- congratulations!! -- and 17th for Percy.
