Mike and I drove down to Brooklyn to do the 3/4 race at the FBF Classic.
It wasn't very windy, especially in the 3/4 race. The 3/4 race started pretty compactly, everyone sticking together. I got aggressive a little too early, bridging up to a move after 5 laps or so. That was brought back and Wei Chen went. He dangled for a while and I drilled it at one point to try to get across but didn't time things right and just pulled the field into a headwind. As I let up a few guys went off and I looked back to see Mike rolling off the back with a flat.
There was a nice turnout for the first week of the Kreb Series. GAB attendance consisted of Chris, Kris, Karl and, just in time, myself. Chris was the first to animate the race, going hard from the gun. He was joined by Eric Ragot from Kissena not long afterward. They managed to build a little gap while Karl and I patrolled the front of the field. There were several attempts to bridge over the next few laps, and eventually a group of five managed to do so. This group included Chris Z from Kreb, a few other riders, and Karl tagging along.

Textbook bike race. The Lacrosse Omnium is a three day stage race in western Wisconsin with the last day being a 50 mile road race. The course was a long rolling tailwind straight with the start/finish, a curvy downhill, a >1 mile 6% uphill into a crosswind and a headwind back to the finishing straight. After a frustrating race in the criterium the day before I was ready for things to go well.
I almost didn't race. I waited until the last minute to register and when George bailed in the morning I almost followed his lead. For whatever reason, I didn't want to race in the rain which is strange, since I usually do better when the conditions get rough.
