Cycling and Doping- I Dont Give A ......

20 years ago I sat in a court room supporting my life long friend who was facing 20 years in jail for stealing from drug dealers while he was an undercover cop.
I realized that day that while I wished he did not do it, I could with a clear conscience say " I support him and remain his friend even if he did do it "
I even had the feeling that I did not care if he did do it. Maybe this crosses the line from supportive friend to condoning wrong doing. But, I did not need him to be perfect to stay his good friend. It probably helps that just above crimes against children and animals comes dealing drugs in my book.

It is not Lance, Floyd or any other pro cyclist that I need to support or idealize.
I don't need pro cyclists to be my hero's! Relish a great sporting event such as cycling at the amateur and pro levels. Be happy with a great effort, win or comeback in sports or life. Amateur cyclists spend an enormous part of our life training and racing. Staying positive and finding enjoyment with it requires a healthy dose of focus and exclusionary attitude. I will take the natural high of being in a successful break in a local CAT 4 race over any pro cycling news. I Don't Give A ....
