Romeo...I'm not!
My wife is pretty understanding when it comes to my riding schedule, which lately has been borederline insane. However, there are a couple days during the year which I believe she questions what do I love more...her or my cycling? Ever since I blurted out to her during a dispute over my riding schedule a while ago ...ready for this one? "I was riding before you, during you and if it comes to it...after you! Could you imagine.
What is wrong with me. Anyhow...there are a few days that do test my commitment to her...her Birthday, our Anniversary, Mothers Day and Valentines Day.Deep down, I think she would love it if I gave up riding on any one of those days, seems easy, right. Well unfortunately this Valentines day falls on a Sunday . I must tell you, I had no plans on giving up my ride today. So, I tried to pull out all of the stops to start the day..I made Breakfast, she got Flowers, a Card and even alittle jewelry, oh and let's not forget her Russel Stovers Choclate. I should be golden, right? Well after cleaning up , I start fidgeting around the basement, which normally lets her know I am getting ready for a ride, I do this waiting for the words...Oh Honey, going out for yor ride, okay I will see you later..be careful!
Is that asking for too much? Just alittle support from the Mrs.? Well, I come up the stairs and she says...your not planning on riding are you?? Oh man, I am crushed!! But then she says...because its so cold outside! Oh, oh the cold, well I can handle the cold...shouldn't be a problem. She then says...okay, be carefull and remember we have plans later....Bingo!! I am in like Flynn. I try to act cool and slowly stroll downstairs to grab my gear. But you would have thought I got away with something far more sinister.
